Northland Teacher Spotlight

Rhonda Card
Cloquet Public Schools
7th - 12th Grade Choir
Rhonda is currently the 7-12 choir director at Cloquet Middle and High School. She is in her first year of teaching, having just graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in Vocal Music Education. Rhonda was heavily involved in the music department at UMD, serving as President of UMD's ACDA chapter as well as many other leadership positions within the department. While in school, Rhonda was also very active in the Twin Ports community. She was a Choral Scholar with the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary for three years as well as an intern with the Lake Superior Youth Chorus for two. In addition to teaching in Cloquet Public Schools, Rhonda is also one of the Choristers Directors with the Lake Superior Youth Chorus and currently sings in The Twin Ports Choral Project, directed by Ryan Deignan. You can find Rhonda around Duluth walking her dog, Marnie, by the lake, exploring new restaurants with friends or doing Muay Thai!

K - 5 Elementary Music
Originally from Travelers Rest, SC, Todd earned his BA in Music Performance from the University of South Carolina. Afterwards he spent 6 years in Chicago performing in various musical settings including jazz, funk and rock bands, orchestras, ensembles, and dance troupes. He relocated to the south and lived in Atlanta, GA and Chattanooga, TN playing and performing with multiple groups and genres. While jazz is his passion he loves performing and listening to all types of music. In 2017 he moved to Duluth with his wife and two sons where his free time (when he has it) is spent mountain biking, performing with local bands, reading and watching documentaries.

High School Choir
Adam currently teaches 9-12 Vocal Music at Grand Rapids High School. At the high school he directs five curricular choirs along with directing the spring musical. In addition to his work at the high school, Adam is the Artistic Director of the Itasca Community Chorus and director of Camerata, the tenor-bass choir for the Lake Superior Youth Chorus. An active member of ACDA since 2015, Adam is currently serving as the Northeast District Chair on the ACDA of Minnesota executive board. In 2020, Adam graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in K-12 Vocal Music Education.
