EMMA DOWNING

Ms. Emma Downing is the Elementary Music Teacher at Minnehaha Elementary School in Two Harbors, MN. She began her time with the Lake Superior Youth Chorus as a Music Intern during the 2022-2023 season and transitioned into working as a Collaborative Pianist the next year. This will be her third season in this position. Ms. Downing is thrilled to also be stepping into a new role as Prelude Director this season!
Ms. Downing graduated with Departmental Honors from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in Vocal Music Education in May of 2023. At UMD, she sang in the auditioned choral ensemble University Singers, where she spent multiple years serving in various officer positions and as a section leader. She was also actively involved in the Vocal Jazz ensembles, singing in Chill Factor and Lake Effect, and acting as an assistant director for the treble group Aurora in their inaugural semester. Ms. Downing is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and National Association for Music Educators.
Outside of making music, Ms. Downing enjoys running and hiking, golfing, reading, cooking, and crafting. She is looking forward to a fantastic 2025-2026 season!
