EMMA DOWNING

Ms. Emma Downing is the Elementary Music Teacher at Minnehaha Elementary School in Two Harbors, MN. As a first year teacher this year, she is ready to learn and grow as an educator in her new position. She had the honor of serving the Lake Superior Youth Chorus during the 2022-2023 season as an Music Intern and is excited to transition into a new role as a collaborative pianist.
Ms. Downing recently graduated with Departmental Honors from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in Vocal Music Education. At UMD, she sang in the auditioned choral ensemble University Singers, where she spent multiple years serving in various officer positions and as a section leader. She was also actively involved in the Vocal Jazz ensembles, singing in Chill Factor and Lake Effect, and acting as an assistant director for the treble group Aurora in their inaugural semester. Ms. Downing is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and National Association for Music Educators.
Outside of making music, Ms. Downing enjoys running and hiking, reading, cooking, and crafting. She is looking forward to a fantastic 2023-2024 season.
