LSYC CHOIRS

2021-2022 Season

Camerata is the Lake Superior Youth Chorus' resident choir for emerging tenors and basses whose voices have changed or are starting to change. Camerata focuses on singing a diverse repertoire, using healthy vocal technique, and learning advanced music theory. The group rehearses on Sunday nights for two hours and is directed by Mrs. Jennifer Robbins.

Concert Choir is our Level II choir. Singers become familiar with many styles of music and singing in multiple parts. Learning basic music reading skills and aural development is also emphasized. Concert Choir rehearses on Sunday nights for two hours and is directed by Ms. Grace Young.

Concert Choir

Cantemus is our Level III choir and the main touring and performing ensemble for the Lake Superior Youth Chorus. Cantemus focuses on singing a diverse repertoire, using healthy vocal technique, and learning advanced music theory. The group rehearses on Sunday nights for two hours and is directed by Dr. Bret Amundson.

Choristers is our Level I choir and focuses on developing healthy vocal technique, the ability to sing in multiple parts, aural skill, and basic music reading through exposure to a wide variety of musical styles and genres. Choristers rehearses on Sunday nights for two hours and is directed by Mrs. Regan Hjelle.

The Lake Superior Youth Chorus Resident Choir program is made up of four ensembles that meet weekly during the year and perform at concerts. Choristers, Concert Choir, Camerata, and Cantemus are each led by a different director and focus on a variety of music making skills, depending on age range and performance calendar.
