GUNNAR MOLSTAD

Mr. Gunnar Molstad is the director of 5-8 vocal music at North Star Academy in Duluth, MN, where he leads four choirs and directs two musicals. Mr. Molstad graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris in 2019 with a degree in Vocal Music Education and Vocal Performance. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Molstad was proud to have been a member of every choral ensemble on campus. He moved to Duluth in 2022 and entered the professional and semi-professional music scene through that year’s Season Splash at Wade Stadium. Mr. Molstad sings with the Twin Ports Choral Project, Borealis Chamber Singers, Lyric Opera of the North, and several other projects in town.


While Mr. Molstad grew up in a much smaller town than Duluth where having strong choral opportunities was the most important part of his early life. As a teen, singing with groups of other youths with similar voices helped develop not only his musicianship, but his growth as a person, and he is driven to provide these same opportunities to the youth of the Twin Ports region.
